Famous People
Karl has a reputation for seeing famous people when he goes to the city, but this only happens if his wife is not there.
Tanya got to meet Samuel L. Jackson. Then they had a light saber fight afterwards. She won.
This picture is a little hard to see, but it is Katie, Matt, and Al from the Today show. Al is really short, like maybe four feet tall. Matt only talks to women, and Katie is grouchy. It was a neat experience.
The highlight of Karl's day was talking to Joe Torre, the manager of the Yankees. Karl told him how much he loves Milwaukee. Joe said "Milwaukee, great town". Karl got to touch him.
This is some lady from some trashy TV show, but she is a star nonetheless, so she gets her fifteen minutes of fame on my blog. Tanya threw a ball at her, but I missed it.
Anyone know this guy? Lou Diamond Phillips. Beside him, getting their picture taken is Laura Bush. Just kidding.
Trip to New Jersey
So I was fortunate enough to be able to take a little vacation right after Thanksgiving. My brother Karl (aka Chuggy) and his wife Jenn live in Wayne, NJ which is close to NYC. My good friend Tanya who is a colleague of mine at Pine Rest was nice enough to accompany me. Sadly, Corey could not come too, as it was BLACK Friday and the busy shopping season in the world. It was so refreshing to take a break from school and work to relax and spend time with family and friends. Our good friend Kevin (who used to work at Pine Rest) made a guest appearance at Karl's house and it was good to see him. Stay tuned for more pictures!
This is a picture of the famous Paterson Falls. They are a little stinky and if you get too close you get sprayed. Plus, Karl says that you could grow a third eye if you ingest any, so one must be very careful.
I thought this was a cute little shot of Karl and Jenn walking down to the falls. What you don't see in this picture is that he pushed her in. Jenn...no one notices that extra ear, your hair covers it up nicely.
Chuggy and I. Don't we look alike?
Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends and family. Nathan, Maren, Karl, and Jenn, we miss you and love you. I wish you all could be here with us today.
Under your comments, please post something you are thankful for. As for me, I'm thankful that school is almost out!
Biking in the snow, on a 2 wheeled open Raleigh, o'er the hills we go...
Thanksgiving is a good time to spend with family eating, watching football, and reflecting on what we are thankful for. This year, in the Records family, my dad and I are starting a new tradition. The Records family 26 degree early morning Thanksgiving day ride. This is very exciting, but I have a feeling it will just be dad and I. If anyone else would like to join us, feel free. Oh, and by the way, it's supposed to snow.
Happy Belated Halloween from Mia
I know that my cat Mia has more fans than I do (I don't actually have any fans, she has a couple), so I thought I would try to please them with my first of many postings about Mia. She is the favorite around here, mainly becuase she doesn't really do naughty things, other than some minor run-ins with the law because of a little embezzlement scandal. But anyway...she loves to dress up for Halloween, so I included some of those photos.
This is Mia dressed up like a birthday present. Scary eyes!
Here, Mia is playing jail inmate. She's got a great sense of humor (humour for you British types).
This is my favorite. Isn't this a great costume? You can't even tell that this is her in the kilt.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAREN!
Happy Birthday, Maren. Hope you are having a great day!
I wish I knew what this said. I hope it's appropriate. My apologies if it is not. Let's just pretend it says Happy Birthday in German.
I'm sorry I haven't sent your present yet. It's on the way and here's a little hint as to what you can be expecting!
This is for Karl
We Records and former Records (being me) are huge Packer fans. It has been a rough season for us, though we still love them with all our hearts.
BUT NOW THE HEART ACHE IS OVER. WE HAVE OFFICIALLY TURNED THE CORNER, right Karl?
Case Study Continued
Our shift began at 3 pm and is ending in 2 hours and 15 minutes at 7:30 am. Will it ever end?
Grandma always wanted a red-headed grandchild...
I don't know why this ever seemed like a good idea, but at the time it was the best idea I ever had. These are my lovely cousins (clockwise from the left: Jill, Amy, Betsy, Aubree, Casey, me). Four of them are actually lovely blondes, while Amy and I are brunettes. We stayed up late dying our hair "fiery cherry" or something along that line. It was supposed to wash out in 8-10 washed. Aubrey and Betsy had pink hair for their school pictures this year. Casey had to get her hair professionally stripped. Jill's hair remained strawberry blonde for months. Amy and I? No real problems. Who says blondes have all the fun?
Our Naughty Little Tiger Cat
Generally, Maggie is pretty shy about public appearances, but she has decided to grace us all with her photo image. We got Maggie from Lake Haven Rescue. Before coming to us, she had a pretty traumatic childhood. Our first days with her were spent trying to find her and then having her hiss in our faces. You will be happy to know that she is doing much better, and has shown us what a naughty little cat she is.
Right here, she is showing her skills of being able to knock everything off the table, including a vase of fresh flowers. She has no shame, and agreed to pose for a photo at the crime scene. Different crime scene photos to come in the future.
Lest anyone wonder how we could love such a bad cat, I decided to include her sweet, innocent senior picture pose. Do you like how she daintily hangs one paw off the edge or her seat? More to come on Maggie's naughtiness in the future.
The self loving and the people who love them
One thing that I love is people that are self absorbed. One group of those people are called bloggers.
I am now that which I never wanted to be.....a member of the
BLOGOSPHERE.
Joining the World of Narcissism
I have always mocked my blogging friends and vowed to never join their ranks. After all, who wants to read about my life? And isn't it narcissistic to assume that anyone would care or needs to care? And shouldn't I be writing my 15 page capstone paper right now? I can't resist this. So here is my blog...thanks to my good friend Nate who not only set this up, but posted my first blog, my first comments (even the one that says Gretchen), and gave the blog the dorky name. Feel free to give me suggestions on topics and to ask for pictures, etc. I hope you all enjoy this.
